The similarities among management functions are

They all are working to the organizational goal.
All functions need effective & efficient implementation.
    They all use resource.
All are applicable at all organizational level.

The four function of management are very interrelated because they are elements of management process (system).

To organize there must be clearly stated plan.
To lead there must be well planned and organized system.
To control there must be real operation which is a result of well planning, organizing & leading.so efficient and effective management performance can be achieved with well related and organized management functions. Even it seems one follow from the other there is no clear cut between them. Generally they are very interrelated.

  2. the similarity between them is that all of them are basic management function. in addition to that in planning there is organizing leading and controlling. and also in organizing there is planning, leading and controlling the same is true for leading and controlling.
yes all of them are interrelated because the activity of organizing is performed based on planning and also planning can be done based on the input which is obtained from organizing, also leading activity is also dependent of organizing activity. in general all of the them are interdependent the activity of one management function takes another management functions as a base.

  3. As to my understanding, there is a strong similarity among them,i.e all aimed at achieving the same goal, moving in the same direction and one cannot be possible without the other.

  4. I think that one of their similarity is their flexibility; means since environmental influences are available, there will be some improvement or modification in all application of these functions.

The other point is that they are interdependent and interact each other in their execution; means one function(planning)may help the other one(may be controlling, organizing or other area).

In general, the way they flexible, interact and interdependent are their functional relations.

  5. I agree with my friends, in my understanding they are the blood circulation of an organization in order to achieve the desired goal. They are interface while we are planning we need to organize resources, lead the system or by motivating staff and controlling over all how it is going you see this used the same for the other function that is why they are equally important.
But proper planing, organizing, leading and controlling needs a tool which is effective and efficient performance, even though it is said scientifically, in most case we cannot achieve them at a time. But mostly it is expected from the manager and management at all to at least approach them. Finally I concluded that they are equally important.

  6. Similarities of management functions are: their applicability in every organization; consistently and sequentially occurring from planning up to the end; it needs special conceptual, human and technical skills.
Management functions are absolutely interrelated starting from the first and the base paper part of planning up to the end of controlling the performance of the progress.
Therefore, the manager should have give a tremendous attention for each functions because the problem occur in one will come down to the next function and the entire goal.

  8. The four management functions are:
    1. Planning or decision making: This includes deciding objectives or aims of the work and organization being managed and working out the detailed way and means of achieving these objectives.
    2. Organizing including staffing: This includes dividing the work to be done in its constituent jobs, and assigning specific jobs and responsibilities among individuals in the total group required to work together to accomplish the objectives. Thus this requires the design of structure of people into an organization. It also includes the function to fulfill the positions as per organizational design.
    3. Motivating or leading: This is the function concerned with the effort of the people in the organization towards achievement of organizational objectives.
    4. Controlling: is the function concerned with ensuring the work managed is carried out in line with decisions and expectations specified in the previous three steps. It also means reviewing and revising the decisions and approaches adopted in the previous three steps when actual results obtained or developments in the environment point to the need for same.
As can be seen from the description given above, the four management functions are quite different from each other. Each of these functions requires different types of skill and capabilities. It is not necessary that a manager skilled in one or more of these functions will be skilled in all of them. As a matter of fact people in general do not naturally possess high level of proficiency in all the four functions. Managers need to make conscious efforts to become good at performing all the four functions well.
